The Journey of Life

Life is confusing.

There really is no better word to describe it.
Life is a journey in the wilderness. It twists and turns in all sorts of crazy ways, and we are left wondering which way is up and which way is down. If only we could have a bird’s eye view of the path and see where the thorns are or find the straightest path. If we could, we would bypass all the pain, tears, and frustration we have felt in our life. Who wouldn’t?
And yet, these trials have made us who we are today. If I hadn’t felt pain and angst, I wouldn’t be able to empathize with people who do. And I love being able to connect with people in that way. For some odd reason, I am attracted to people who are feeling lost and weak, and though I sometimes feel like I don’t help all that much, I can show them that they’re not alone. I wouldn’t trade that empathy for the world.
And sometimes, it feels like life is stealing away a golden opportunity when in reality, it’s opening up our life for something even better. As we look at our life in retrospect, we are able to see how these trials have shaped us and actually blessed us, even though it didn’t seem like that at the time.
Life is confusing.
It still is.
Life is terrifying and painful.
But life is also wonderful.
Life is glorious.
Life is full of surprises.
Some good, some bad.
But it’s absolutely worth the journey.
